That I have a whole mess of cookbooks should come as no real surprise. What might not be as obvious is that my love of cookbooks stems as much from my background in graphic design and typography as it does my culinary career. I cherish my collection and I’m always looking for new additions. If you feel the same, this is the post for you.

While I can find joy in almost any cookbook, some rise above others for their design and content. I’m sharing five of those cookbooks with you today. These are books that are beautifully designed, but more importantly, are packed with inspiration and information that should excite any baker or pastry lover.

Hi Chef Scott
Would love to get my hands on some of those fabulous cook books that you have mentioned. Are the available in Australia?

Hi Steve,
I don’t know of a distributor in the area offhand, but I would try using amazon.com to find them first. You may also be able to download e-versions of them.

Hi Chef Scott,
I couldn’t agree more on EVERYTHING you say about Harold McGee.
My husband and I read this book from top to tail, and you’re right: it is as entertaining as it is informative.
The Elements of Dessert is also on my shelf, and the other three have gone on my wish list; in fact, the Tartine Bread has been hovering there for a while, it might be time to order it already :)))
Thanks for the recommendations,
saludos
